Supporting children on the autism spectrum and their families

The Autism Program (TAP) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is an affiliate of the Autism Program of Illinois Service Network, which consists of four universities and 11 organizations that operate 20 statewide centers. TAP is part of the Department of Human Development & Family Services and operates in the Resource Room of Doris Kelley Christopher Hall.

TAP supports children on the autism spectrum and their families by providing community resources and building capacity for autism services. The program has piloted programs for university students since 2018 and trains the next generation of service providers on the Illinois campus. TAP focuses on:

  • Providing a resource and referral center for parents and professionals.
  • Developing and evaluating model programs in training, treatment, and family support.
  • Facilitating collaborations between agencies, schools, and individuals that enhance the community’s capacity and quality of services for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and their families.
